WESLEY JAMES STEWART
May 11, 1955 - November 30, 2024
With a deep sense of loss but profound
gratitude for the years we had with him,
we announce that Wes passed away
peacefully on November 30, 2024, at Seven
Oaks Hospital.
Wes was a loving husband to Karen for 44
years and a devoted father to their
children, Matt (Nguyen) and Will (Winnie).
He is also survived by his mother-in-law
Nancy; his sister, Chris (Graham); brother
Rob; and Karen’s sisters, Patty (Glen),
Joanne (Keith), and Susan (Drew). His
nieces and nephews, Dana (Hugo), Mark
(Ashton), Dave, Leah (Matt), John (Emily),
and great-nephews, River and Spencer, and
great-nieces, Sophie and Rue, will all
deeply miss him.
Wes had a long and fulfilling career at
Pollard Bank Note, where he worked for
over 40 years. He formed many great
friendships at work, and these
relationships meant a lot to him.
His passion for music was evident
throughout his life, as he played drums
with numerous bands, most notably
Razorback, for over 50 years. He often
joined in with local bands, especially in
Mexico. There was nothing he enjoyed more
than music jams at home or around the
bonfire at the lake. His rendition of
"Road House Blues" was legendary, and
everyone loved hearing him play and sing.
Wes was famous for making the world's best
Caesars, a cocktail that was always the
highlight of any gathering. He was also
the family’s dedicated videographer,
capturing countless precious moments. We
have hours and hours of old family videos
that Wes recorded, and we look forward to
reliving these memories as a family this
Christmas season.
Wes had a special connection with
children, always taking a genuine interest
in their activities and ideas. His warmth
and enthusiasm endeared him to kids, who
loved spending time with him and sharing
their world.
Wes cherished his time at the family cabin
at Victoria Beach and adored his VB
family. He loved his lake time, which
included boating, bonfires, music jams,
sitting in the sun, happy hours, catnaps
on the deck, BBQing (he was the best in
the family), and countless projects around
the cabin. Whether it was catamaran trips,
cruising, or any sort of boating
adventure, Wes loved being on the water.
He also cherished warm vacations and
enjoyed many annual trips to Mexico, the
Caribbean, and the southern US. Through
his travels, Wes made countless friends,
building lasting connections that enriched
his life.
Wes was very proud of his over 100 blood
donations to the Red Cross, a testament to
his generous spirit.
Karen, Matt, and Will would like to thank
their wonderful family and friends for
their love and support. It has meant the
world to them to be surrounded by such
love. They feel truly blessed to have you
in their lives. They also extend their
gratitude to the many amazing people in
the healthcare system, including Dr.
Maksymiuk and Mary of CancerCare Manitoba,
the Thoracic team at HSC, and everyone who
cared for Wes in his last month at Seven
Oaks.
If desired, donations can be made in
memory of Wes to the CancerCare Manitoba
Foundation – Nancy Fund, 675 McDermot Ave,
Room 1160, R3E 0V9.
Wes will be remembered for his love of
life, and as per his wishes, no formal
service will be held.
