Theodore (Ted) Perich
THEODORE (TED) PERICH
May 25, 1930 - January 5, 2018

Peacefully, on Friday, January 5, 2018, Ted passed away surrounded by family. Ted was predeceased by his wife Marilynn, his parents, Theodore Sr. and Anna, and his sister Orysia. Ted is survived by his sons, David, Douglas (Carroll) and daughter Susan (Howard) and grandchildren, Wesley (Raelynn), and Kristen (Blair).

Ted was born May 25, 1930 and raised in the North End into a rich Ukrainian culture. Ted graduated from Isaac Newton High and went on to spend his entire career in sales, marketing and sales management, most notably 31 years with General Mills.

Music of all genres was always present throughout his life. He played trumpet with the Greater Winnipeg High Schools Orchestra, and the Royal Winnipeg Rifles (Reserve) Military band, late during the Second World War. Ted was a true Jazz buff supporting local Jazz events where he became friends with a lot of Winnipeg's Jazz community. Ted was a regular at the Asper Jazz Series and Jazz Winnipeg concerts at the Art Gallery.

Ted's true passion however was Ukrainian Choral Music. He sang tenor with three of the finest Ukrainian choirs ever to have been assembled in Winnipeg, The Walter Bohonos Male Chorus, O.Koshetz Choir and the Hoosli Ukrainian Male Chorus. Ted and his quartet, The Continentals, performed at Ukrainian festivals throughout Canada, with several appearances in Dauphin. Ted also sang at hundreds of Ukrainian weddings and funerals, and also performed dinner theatre at the Hollow Mug.

For the past couple of years Ted has been a resident of Devonshire House II and thoroughly enjoyed his time there making new friends with the other residents and staff. Cremation has taken place and this spring we will be interring both Ted and Marilynn in a graveside ceremony at Glen Eden. Will notify this spring on a date. Should friends so desire, memorial donations may be made in Ted's memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 9Z9.
